High-Q Distributed-Bragg-Grating Laser Cavities
Applying Bragg gratings in Al2O3 channel waveguides, we demonstrate distributed Bragg reflectors with Qfactors of 1.0210 6 . An integrated Al2O3:Yb 3+ waveguide laser with 67% slope efficiency and 47 mW output power is achieved with such cavities.
متن کاملWafer bonded distributed feedback laser with sidewall modulated Bragg gratings
We demonstrate an optically pumped hybrid III-V/Si distributed feedback laser with a small footprint, using sidewall modulated Bragg gratings for optical feedback. Our approach provides high overlap between lasing mode and gain medium and may enable hybrid lasers with improved efficiency, reduced threshold, and minimal size. We fabricate the structure using plasma-assisted wafer bonding, follow...
متن کاملHigh-speed and high-efficiency travelling wave single-photon detectors embedded in nanophotonic circuits
Ultrafast, high-efficiency single-photon detectors are among the most sought-after elements in modern quantum optics and quantum communication. However, imperfect modal matching and finite photon absorption rates have usually limited their maximum attainable detection efficiency. Here we demonstrate superconducting nanowire detectors atop nanophotonic waveguides, which enable a drastic increase...
متن کاملSelf-tuning Fuzzy Speed Controller of Travelling Wave Ultrasonic Motor
Aiming at the nonlinear characteristic of ultrasonic motor, some control strategies have been proposed to control the rotating speed of ultrasonic motor. But most of these strategies are too complex to realize using a low-cost embedded device. In this paper, a simple fuzzy speed controller is designed for ultrasonic motor. Until now, there has no mature and theoretic design method of fuzzy cont...
متن کاملHigh-speed wave-mixing laser Doppler imaging in vivo.
An interferometric method for parallel optical spectroscopy in the kilohertz range is reported, as well as its experimental validation in the context of high-speed laser Doppler imaging in vivo. The interferometric approach enables imaging in the low light conditions of a 2 kHz frame rate recording with a complementary metal-oxide semiconductor camera. Observation of mice craniums with near-inf...
